100+ Years and Counting

Founded by Irish immigrant William J. Riley in the Boston area in 1906, New Balance was originally called the New Balance Arch Support Company. As the name implies, it manufactured flexible arch supports to provide greater comfort and balance. It’s said that Riley’s original three-point support system was based on a chicken’s foot, which gives the birds perfect balance.
